Lululemon Wins Some Rounds. But S$99 More? I’m Not Convinced.
The easiest way to write a “best Lululemon dupe” article is to tell you every cheaper pair is amazing.
That isn’t very useful.
So instead, I compared the things that actually matter: price, fabric, waist, shape, flare, sizing and whether you can still wear them after leaving the studio.
A cheaper pair does not automatically win just because it is cheaper.
That is probably the part most “Lululemon dupe” articles forget.
Sometimes the real thing has a better fabric story.
Sometimes the sizing is more precise.
Sometimes the alternative solves a completely different problem for far less money.
I asked: “Which one actually wins each category?”
That is a much more useful question.
Let’s get the awkward number out of the way first.
That is a S$99 difference at regular/current listed prices.
To be fair, selected lululemon Groove colours may be discounted; the product page checked during this review also displayed a S$110 sale option.
But the regular-price gap is still the reason this comparison exists.
This is the round where I would not pretend they are the same.
lululemon Groove uses Nulu, one of the brand’s signature fabrics.
The current Groove body fabric is listed as 81% Nylon + 19% Lycra Elastane, with four-way stretch, sweat-wicking and breathable properties.
VEIMIA lists 80% Nylon + 20% Spandex.
The percentages look surprisingly close.
But that does not make the fabrics identical.
So if your entire reason for buying lululemon is that you specifically want Nulu, then the real thing wins this round by definition.

This is where the cheaper pair starts doing something different.
lululemon calls the Groove super-high-rise.
VEIMIA gives the waistband an actual measurement: 12cm.
More importantly, VEIMIA positions the waistband as part of the shaping design, with gentle tummy control and an anti-rolling direction.
That means the two waistbands are not necessarily chasing the exact same sensation.
If you want the least-there feel possible, you may lean one way.
If you like feeling a little more held around the waist, VEIMIA becomes more interesting.
The VEIMIA pair is much less shy about what it wants to shape.
The Groove is not really marketed as a “butt-lifting shaping pant.”
VEIMIA is.
So for someone actively shopping for waist + hip + thigh shaping, this category is much clearer.
This one depends on what kind of flare you actually want.
lululemon Groove hugs the body from waist to knee, then flares from the knee to the hem.

It may be: “I don’t have to change after yoga.”

What should you actually check when shopping for a Lululemon look-alike?
This is where I agree with the general idea behind good dupe shopping: the logo is not the first thing to compare.
- Fabric composition: nylon and elastane/spandex blends are common in stretch activewear, but composition alone does not guarantee identical feel.
- Rise: a high waist changes both comfort and the visual proportion of flare pants.
- Seam placement: rear and side seams can change how the hip and thigh look.
- Compression: some people want barely-there softness; others want a more held-in feeling.
- Length: with flares, inseam and total garment length matter enormously.
- Actual use: a pant for yoga does not automatically make sense for commuting, and vice versa.
Don’t ask: “Does it look like Lululemon?”
Ask:
“Does it solve the thing I wanted from Lululemon in the first place?”

- You want something that can move from activewear into everyday outfits.
- You are not sure you want to spend S$158 just to test whether flare leggings suit you.
One S$158 pair is one decision. At S$59, colour becomes a different conversation.
And yes, Black is still the safe answer.
But one reason a lower price matters is that the second colour does not feel like another major financial decision.
Lululemon wins some rounds. That does not automatically mean it wins the purchase.
That distinction matters.
The real thing has a proprietary fabric story.
It has more granular sizing.
It has a product people already know and trust.
But VEIMIA is not trying to win by pretending those things do not exist.
Its argument is simpler:

At that point, the shopper gets to decide which advantages actually matter to her.
I wouldn’t call it “the same as Lululemon.” That is not the point.
If you specifically want Nulu, buy Nulu.
