Lululemon Flare Leggings Cost S$158. This S$59 Pair Made Me Question Why.
THE FLARE LEGGINGS PRICE QUESTION

Lululemon Flare Leggings Cost S$158. This S$59 Pair Made Me Question Why.

I understand why people love lululemon.

But when one pair of flare leggings has a regular price of S$158 and another is currently S$59, I want to know what that extra money is actually buying me.

S$158 vs S$59 Regular-price comparison. The lululemon Groove colour checked during this review was currently discounted to S$110. Prices may change.

AN HONEST PRICE COMPARISON

I’m not here to tell you lululemon suddenly stopped being good.

That would be ridiculous.

There is a reason people keep buying lululemon leggings. The fabric feel is recognizable. The cuts are polished. And the brand has spent years making “leggings as an outfit” feel completely normal.

But flare leggings create a slightly different question.

Are you paying for the flare-legging silhouette — or are you paying specifically for lululemon?

Because those are not necessarily the same purchase.

And once I put the current product details side by side, the price gap became a lot harder to ignore.

This article compares publicly listed specifications and official product materials. It is not claiming that the two pants use identical fabric, construction or fit.
WHY FLARES?

The funny thing is, I don’t even think the flare is mainly about yoga anymore.

The original yoga-pant shape came back with a much more intentional silhouette.

Higher waist.

Closer fit through the hips and thighs.

Then just enough volume below the knee to change the proportions of the whole outfit.

That is why a flare legging can work very differently from a classic skinny legging.

A normal legging says: “I’m wearing activewear.”

A good flare pant can almost pass for trousers.

THE REFERENCE POINT

First, what are you actually getting with the lululemon Groove?

The obvious comparison is the Groove Nulu Super-High-Rise Flared Pant.

The Singapore product page lists a regular price of S$158. At the time this article was checked, the selected product display was showing S$110.

The pants use lululemon’s Nulu fabric and are designed to hug the body from the waist to the knee before flaring toward the hem.

  • Super-high rise
  • 32.5-inch inseam
  • 81% nylon + 19% Lycra elastane body fabric
  • Four-way stretch
  • Sweat-wicking
  • Breathable
  • Back waistband pocket

And yes: if Nulu is the exact fabric feel you already know you love, that matters.

But a fabric preference and a S$158 flare-legging requirement are not automatically the same thing.

THEN I LOOKED AT THE S$59 PAIR

VEIMIA isn’t trying to make the flare the only feature.

The current VEIMIA Flare Yoga Pants are built around four areas:

waist, hips, thighs and the flare itself.

The fabric composition is listed as 80% nylon + 20% spandex.

That is interesting because the fibre ratio sits surprisingly close to lululemon Groove’s 81% nylon + 19% Lycra elastane.

That does NOT mean the fabrics are identical. Fibre percentages alone cannot tell you knit construction, finish, density, hand feel, compression or long-term recovery.

What it does tell us is that VEIMIA is still working within a nylon-heavy stretch activewear construction — not simply putting a flare on a completely unrelated casual pant.

WHAT THE S$59 ACTUALLY GETS YOU

Six details that make the VEIMIA pair interesting

1 12cm High-Rise Waist The waistband is designed for gentle tummy control and to reduce rolling during movement or long periods of sitting.
2 Micro-Flare Cut The leg stays closer through the thigh, then opens below the knee to visually rebalance the silhouette.
3 Butt-Shaping Seam The rear construction is designed to follow and emphasize a rounder hip contour.
4 Leg Sculpting The cut is designed to smooth the thigh area and create a longer-looking leg line.
5 Stretch + Breathability The 80/20 nylon-spandex fabric is positioned for flexible movement from workouts to everyday wear.
6 S–XL Sizing Current sizes run from S to XL, with four core colours: Black, Gray, Brown and Light Gray.
DETAIL 01 · THE WAIST

This is where VEIMIA takes a noticeably different approach.

The product page specifically calls out a 12cm high-rise waistband.

In other words, the waist is not designed to disappear.

It is supposed to feel like part of the shaping structure.

If you want your leggings to feel a little more “held in,” this may actually matter more to you than trying to recreate Nulu exactly.
DETAIL 02 · HIP & LEG

The shaping story is much more obvious than on a “barely there” legging.

VEIMIA flare yoga pants butt lifting sculpting seam design
Hip contour The rear seam structure is designed around a rounder, more sculpted shape.
VEIMIA flare leggings thigh sculpting light compression workout movement
Thigh and leg line The product positioning emphasizes light shaping through the thigh with the flare changing the lower-leg proportion.

This is one of the reasons I wouldn’t call the VEIMIA pair an exact lululemon dupe.

The product philosophies are different.

lululemon Groove: softness and fluid flare.

VEIMIA: high-rise shaping + hip contour + leg line + flare.
DETAIL 03 · FABRIC

The cheap-legging question is usually: “Will the fabric feel cheap?”

That is a fair question.

VEIMIA currently lists the composition as 80% nylon + 20% spandex, with elastic and breathable positioning.

The brand also lists antibacterial and odor-resistant properties on the current product page.

Construction details The official detail visual highlights fabric texture, seams and rear shaping construction.
“Antibacterial,” “odor-resistant,” “buttery-soft” and shaping language above reflect VEIMIA’s current product-page claims and visual materials rather than independent laboratory testing.
DETAIL 04 · THE FLARE

There is a fine line between “flare leggings” and “I accidentally dressed for a disco.”

What I like about this silhouette is that the flare doesn’t start too aggressively.

The upper leg remains fitted and the lower leg opens gradually.

VEIMIA micro flare yoga pants visually lengthening leg silhouette

VEIMIA’s flare-leg visual emphasizing a longer-looking silhouette.

That makes them easier to pair with:

  • White sneakers
  • Running-style trainers
  • Cropped tanks
  • Oversized shirts
  • Fitted knits
  • Blazers and casual jackets
GYM → COFFEE → COMMUTE

And this is probably the real reason flare yoga pants are winning again.

They don’t stop making sense when the workout ends.

Active styling The fitted upper leg still reads like activewear and allows flexible movement.
VEIMIA flare yoga pants styled for casual commute office and streetwear
Street styling The same flare shape works with knitwear, shirts, jackets and casual office looks.
The selling point isn’t: “Wear these to yoga.”

It’s: “Don’t bother changing after yoga.”
WATCH THE MOVEMENT

Static product photos can’t show you everything.

A flare changes most noticeably when someone actually walks, turns and moves.

This VEIMIA-branded Yoga Pants short is useful as a movement and styling reference. It should not be treated as an independent product test.

LET’S NOT PRETEND

Are these secretly lululemon? No.

And I actually think pretending they are would make the comparison weaker.

The fabric finishing may be different.

The compression may be different.

The exact flare angle may be different.

The waistband construction and fit experience may be different.

If you are specifically paying for Nulu because you know and love Nulu, then a cheaper pair does not magically replace that preference.

But if what you actually want is a flattering high-rise flare pant you can wear from workout to street, the comparison gets much more interesting.

ONE THING I WOULD CHECK FIRST

With flare pants, length can matter almost as much as waist size.

A skinny legging can be one or two centimetres off and you may barely notice.

A flare pant is less forgiving.

Too short: the flare looks awkward.

Too long: congratulations, you are now cleaning the pavement.
VEIMIA flare yoga pants size chart S M L XL garment lengths

Current VEIMIA size chart: S 100cm · M 102cm · L 104cm · XL 106cm garment length.

So I would check the garment length before choosing a size — especially if you are petite or plan to wear the pants with flat shoes.

COLOUR CHECK

Black is predictable. Brown might be more dangerous for my wallet.

VEIMIA flare yoga pants Black Gray Brown and Light Gray color options

The current core colours are Black, Gray, Brown and Light Gray.

Black is obviously the easiest.

But Brown with cream, beige, white or a soft grey top is exactly the kind of outfit that makes yoga pants stop looking like “just workout pants.”

THE REAL TEST

Can I wear them somewhere that has absolutely nothing to do with yoga?

VEIMIA flare yoga pants travel airport casual styling
Travel Soft trousers plus sneakers is basically the airport uniform we keep pretending we invented.
VEIMIA flare yoga pants styled with blazers shirts and jackets
Work-to-street A blazer, button-down or cropped jacket changes the entire read of the pants.

THE VERDICT

So would I tell you to stop buying lululemon? No.

That would be too easy.

If you already know you love Nulu, you want lululemon’s exact fit and S$158 fits comfortably into your budget, you do not need the internet to talk you out of it.

But if you are mainly chasing:

  • the high waist,
  • the fitted hip and thigh,
  • the longer-looking leg line,
  • the subtle flare,
  • and the ability to wear the same pants after leaving the studio,

then S$59 deserves a conversation.

Do you want lululemon?
Or do you want really good flare yoga pants?

Because those two answers do not always have to cost the same.

THE PRICE QUESTION

S$158 made me want to compare. S$59 made me keep looking.

VEIMIA does not need to pretend it is secretly lululemon.

The more interesting argument is that it gives you a high-rise, sculpted, micro-flare silhouette at a very different price point.

Maybe the question isn’t: “Is this a perfect lululemon dupe?”
Maybe it’s: “Do I actually need it to be?”
